S-2 Quick Setup T urn your TV on. Press & hold the TV Mode button until all Mode buttons light up. Press POWER. Press the UP ARROW repeatedly (about 1 press per second) until your TV turns off. Press POUND. Press the POWER button to turn the TV on and try other buttons to make sure the code works.
S-3 Quick Setup/Operation SELECT Press and hold RECOVER until all mode buttons light up. If you see the System Info screen, proceed to step 4. Otherwise, continue to step 3. Press RECOVER again & wait until the mode lights stop flashing. If you see the System Info screen, go to step 4.
S-4 Operation Remote Operation SA T Mode S AT T o use the features described in this section, make sure you are in SA T mode by pressing the SA T Mode button.

VCR S-6 Operation Remote Operation VCR Mode VCR T o use the features described in this section, make sure you are in VCR mode by pressing the VCR Mode button. Y ou can use this mode to operate your DVD player instead of a VCR. Remote programming is required.

1 R EMOTE C ONTROL O VERVIEW Use this full-function remote to c ontrol your DISH Network receiver . Also, you can program the remote to control most of the popular brands of audio/video equipment like a TV , VCR, DVD player, or a second DISH Network sa tellite receiver .
2 If you program the remote to contro l other equipment, refer to the following pages located at the begi nning of this guide for remote control operation instructions: • TVs, Remote Operation TV Mode , page S-5. • VCRs and DVD players, Remote Operation VCR Mode , page S-6.
3 L IMITED M ODE Y ou can program your remote contro l in Limited Mode t o keep from accidentally changing the channel on your TV or VCR. When Limited Mode is enabled, you cannot sele ct TV mode.
4 P ROGRAMMING U SING E QUIPMENT C ODE T ABLES Y ou can set up the remote to c ontrol other equipment using the equipment codes listed on page 12 and the modes as shown on page 1. Instructions Additional Information 1 T urn the equipment on. Use the equipment’ s front panel buttons or its remote control.
5 S CANNING FOR E QUIPMENT C ODES 9 T urn the equipment back on and try some other buttons to make sure they work. If the code works for other buttons, stop here. Note : If you have programmed your remote in Limited Mode, only the MUTE and VOLUME buttons work.
6 4 Press POWER . This puts your remote in the scan mode. 5 Press the UP or DOWN ARROW repeatedly until the equipment turns off. As you press the UP or DOWN ARROW , the remote tries each code in the memory to see if it can turn off your equipment. When the equipment turns of f, you have found a code that might work.
7 S WITCHING B ETWEEN TV AND A MPLIFIER V OLUME C ONTROL When you set up the remote to control a TV , the MUTE and VOLUME buttons control the TV volume, even if your remote control is in SA T mode.
8 P ROGRAMMING THE R EMOTE TO C ONTROL A S ECOND R ECEIVER IN AUX M ODE If you have another DISH Network sate llite receiver in stalled, yo u can use this remote in AUX mode to control it along with your new receiver . When you program the remote to control the other receiver , the remote sends out IR signals to the receiver .
9 R EADING O UT THE R EMOTE C ONTROL C ODES These instructions explain how to check the codes you put in the remote control when you se t it up. Be sure to wr ite them in the spaces provided on the inside of the back cover . Instructions Additional Information 1 Press and hold the mo de button for the equipment you want the remote to control.
10 D ISCRETE C ODES FOR L EARNING R EMOTES Remote control discrete On an d Off IR commands are used by installers when progra mming macr o commands into universal re motes. Using an On-only or Off-only comma nd is more ef fective than a toggle On/Off comma nd when trying to ensure the satellite re ceiver is reliably in one state or the other .
11 5 Press RECORD . Make sure the Remote Address you see on the System Info screen is the same as the one you entered in step 3. If it isn’t, the remote ca nnot control the receiver . Press RECORD a second ti me. 6 Press SELECT to close the System Info screen.
12 E QUIPMENT C ODES These tables co ntain the manufac turer codes for programming the remote to control your TV , a VCR, DVD player , or audio amplifier . Every attempt has been made to in clude all codes. If your equipment brand is not listed or if the c odes do not work, the remote may not control your equipment.

20 T ROUBLESHOOTING What’ s Happening What’ s W rong What Y o u Can Do While doing remote control procedure, the remote control stops working. • If you do n’t press a button for 20 seconds in a programmi ng sequence, the remote shuts off its programming function.
21 Your picture is snowy (or blue or black). • You have accidentally changed the channel on you r TV. • Make sure your TV (and VCR, if connected) is tune d to the correct channel. Also try using the Recover button as describe d on page S-3, If You Lose Your Pic ture (How to Use the Recover Button) .
22 L IMITED W ARRANTY This warranty extends only to the original user (“you,” “your”) of the DISH Network remote control and is limited to the purchase price of the remote control. 23 DISH N ETWORK ’ S E XCHANGE P ROGRAMS DISH Network offers two options if you need to replace your remote control: the Advanced Exchange Program and the Post Receipt Exchange Program. Advance Exchange Program The Advanced Exchange Pr ogram allows you to have a replacement remote shipped immediately to you.
