C-2 Separate the key from the remote by inserting your thumbnail or a coin in the crease. Remove the key by grasping at the bottom. Insert the key face up and slide into place.
C-3 Quick Setup Confirm that your remote operates your receiver by pressing remote buttons. If your remote has a blue number 2 key , you may need to go to your remote TV2 location to confirm your remote operates your receiver . If this is not working, go back to step 5 .

1 R EMOTE C ONTROL O VERVIEW Use this full-function remote control to operate the V iP®722k DVR and V iP222k DISH Network receiv ers. Also, you can program the remote control to operate mo st of the popular brands of audio/video equipment like a TV , a DVD player (or VCR), or a second DISH Network satellit e receiver .
2 If you program the remote control to operate other equipment, refer to the following for remote- control operation instructio ns: • TVs, page C-8. • DVD players and VCRs, page C-9.
3 player using code 765, follow the inst ructions to program the remote to operate the TV using code 765, and th en repeat the instructions for the DVD using the same code. Put the remote in TV mode to use TV functions, or DVD mode to use the DVD player (or VCR) functions.
4 4 For AUX mode only . Press 0 for a second TV , or 1 for a second DVD/VCR, or 2 for a tuner , amplifier , or audio receiver . This step is for programming the kind of equipment that should be programmed in AUX mode. If you’re not programming in AUX mode, skip to step 5.

6 S WITCHING B ETWEEN TV AND A MPLIFIER V OLUME C ONTROL When the remote control is set up to operate your TV , the MUTE and VOLUME buttons will adjust your TV volume.
7 P ROGRAMMING THE R EMOTE TO C ONTROL A S ECOND R ECEIVER IN AUX M ODE If you have another DISH Network rece iver installed, you can use this remote control in AUX mode to operate it along with your new receiver .
8 R EADING O UT C ODES These instructions explain how to check the remote control code you put in the remote control when y ou set it up. Be sure to write the m in the spaces provided on the inside back cover . Instructions Additional Information 1 Press and hold the mo de button for the equipment you want the remote control to operate.
9 L EARNING F ROM A NOTH ER D EVICE ’ S R EMOTE After you have programmed your DI SH Network remote to control your equipment (in TV , DVD or AUX modes), you may find not all of the commands used by the equipmen t’ s origin al remote controls function as you expect.
10 5 Point the front of the original equipmen t’ s remote to face the small square (IR window) on the fr ont, left-hand side of DISH’ s remote, as shown below and on page C-1. 6 On the DISH Network remote, pr ess the button you want to teach. 7 On the original equipment's remo te co ntrol, press and hold the button you want learned.
11 U SING THE S YSTEM W IZARD By pressing and holding the 0 (zero) key on th e DISH Network remote control for TV1 (or for TV2, if yo u have set it to IR on ly , as on page 14), you enter the System W izard, vi ewable on TV1 (see page C-1).
12 A DJUST R EMOTE C ONFI GURATION Y ou may see a screen asking you to adjust the physical configuration of the remote control. Configure the remote key (see page C-2) and the UHF/IR switch (see page 14) as shown on the screen , and then select Continue.
13 D ISCRETE C ODES FOR L EARNIN G R EMOTES Discrete On and Of f IR-only remote-control commands are u sed by installers when progra mming macr o commands into universal re motes.
14 4 Press POUND (# ). If you entered the address correctly , the SA T button will flash th ree times. W rite down the number you entered in the space provided on the inside back cover of this guide. 5 Press RECORD . Make sure the Secondary Remote Address you see on the System Information screen is the same as the one you entered in step 3.
15 S ETTING U P A TV1 UHF P RO R EMOTE FOR THE DISH P LAYER -DVR 522 AND 625 O NLY Use these special instructions only if you are going to u se the green 1 UHF Pro key to control the TV1 side of a DISH Player -DVR 522 or DISH Player-DVR 625.
16 6 Use the ARROW buttons to move the highlight to the TV1 remote address (the Rem Addr box as shown below). This is important—if you do not move the hig hlight, your remote control will change the receiver's TV2 remote address (the Rem Addr box) and cause your Remote Control 1 to control the TV2 side of your receiver .
17 E QUIPMENT C ODES These tables co ntain the manufac turer codes for programming the remote control to operate your TV , a DVD player or VCR, or an audio receiver or amplifier . Every attempt has been made to include all codes. If your equipment brand is not listed or if the codes do not work, the remote may not control your equi pment.

31 T ROUBLESHOOTING What’ s Happening What’ s Wrong What Y ou C an Do While performing a remote contr ol procedure, the remote contr ol stops working. If you don’t press a button for 20-30 seconds in a programming sequence, th e remote shuts off its programming function.
32 Your remote control isn’t working • The remote control is in the wrong mode. • You mi ght be using the wrong remote control (TV1 or TV2). • Your batteries are worn out. • The remote control’s UHF/IR switch is in the wrong position • Make sure the remote cont rol is in the correct mode.
33 L IMITED W ARRANTY This warranty extends only to the original user (“you ,” “your”) of the DISH Network remot e control and is limited to the purchase price of the remote control.
34 Advance Exchange Program The Advanced Exchange Pr ogram allows you to have a replacement remote shipped immediately to you. Depending upon where you live, the remote sho uld arrive within 3 to 5 business days. Y ou will not have to retur n your defective remote to DISH Networ k using this program.
