To detect the MAC address, manually, press the button “ Refresh Devices ” . The displayed MAC address is the same MAC address printed on t he white sticker placed on the back of the IP-KVM switch .

Single port KVM over IP switch 4.1.3.2 Remote Mouse Settings A common problem with KVM devices is the synchronization between the local and remote mouse cursors. The IP-KVM switch addresses this situation with an intelligent synchronization algorithm.
Single port KVM over IP switch There are mouse drivers which influence the synchronization process and lead to desynchronized mouse pointers. If this happens, make sure you do not use a special vendor.

Single port KVM over IP switch Figure 5-4. Remote Console The Remote Console window is a Java Applet t hat tries to establish its own TCP connection to the IP-KVM switch. The protocol that is run over this connection is neither HTTP or HTTPS, but RFB (Remote Frame Buffer Prot ocol).

Normally, the applet determines the correct value automatically. However, depending on your particular JVM and your browser settings this is not always possible.

Single port KVM over IP switch UNIX and UNIX-like OS (UNIX, Solaris, Linux) If you like to access the share via SAM BA, SAMBA has to be set up properly. You may either edit the SAMBA configur ation file /etc/samba/smb.c onf , or use the Samba Web Administration Tool (SWAT) or WebM in to set the correct parameters.
Single port KVM over IP switch CD ROM/ISO Images UNIX and UNIX-like OS To create an image file, make use of “dd”. This is one of the original UNIX utilities and is included in every UNIX-like OS (UNIX, Sun Solaris, Linux). To create a CDROM image file, c opy the contents of the CDROM to a file.

That means, the super user can customize these settings for every users separately. Changing t he settings for one user does not affect the settings for the other users.
Single port KVM over IP switch Pre-configured The pre-configured settings deliv er the best result because of optimized adjustment of compression and colour depth for the indicated network speed. Manually Allows to adjust both compression rate and the colour depth individually.

Dynamic DNS Scenario The IP-KVM switch is reachable via the IP addr ess of the DSL router, which is dynamically assigned by the provider.
Single port KVM over IP switch The administrator has to regist er an IP-KVM switch that is supposed to take part in the service with the Dynamic DNS Server and assi gn a certain hostname to it. He will g et a nickname and a password in return to the regi stration process.

Single port KVM over IP switch Default policy This option controls what to do with arrivi ng IP packets that do not match any of the configured rules. They can be accepted or dropped.
Single port KVM over IP switch Anti Brute Force Setting The Anti Brute Force user blocki ng mechanism allows disabling th e login of a certain user if his password was entered incorrectly for a specif ic number of times. The duration of the blocking is also configurable.

Single port KVM over IP switch Serial line speed The speed the IP-KVM switch is communica ting with the modem. Most of all modems available today will support t he default value of 115200 bps. In case you are using an old modem and discovering problems try to lower this speed.
