Loading originals and prin t media | 27 CHANGING THE SIZE OF THE PAPER IN THE PAPER TRAY To load longer sizes of paper, such as Legal-sized paper, you need to adjust the paper guides to extend the paper tray. 1. Adjust the paper length guide to the desired paper len gth.

32 | Copyi ng CHANGING THE SCAN SIZE SETTINGS You can adjust the scan size for the or iginal paper. For example, if you scan a A4-sized original and set the scan size to A5, the printer scans only the area of A5 (148 x 210 mm). We recommend you to change the right scan size for the original p aper.
Copying | 33 Poster copying Your printer can print a n image onto 9 sheets of paper (3x3). Yo u can paste the printed pages together to make one poster-sized document. This copy feature is available only when you pla ce originals on the scanner glass.
34 | Copyi ng Margin shift The Margin Shift feature allows you to create a binding edge for the document. The image can be adjust ed up or down on the page and/or shifted to the right or left. 1. 44 | Faxing Sending a fax automatically 1. Press Fax . 2. Load originals face up into the DADF, or place a single original face down on the sca nner glass. For details about loadin g an original. See "Loading orig inals" on page 23. Ready to Fax appears on the top line of the display.
Faxing | 45 immediately goes into the fax reception mode. •I n Tel mode, you can receive a fax by pressing On Hook Dial () and then Color Start () or Black Start () . You can also pick up the handset of the ex tension phone and then press the remote receive code.
46 | Faxing Receiving in secure receiving mode You may need to prevent your received faxes from being accessed by unauthorized pe ople. You can turn on secure receiving mode to restrict printing of received faxes when the printer is unattended. In secure receiving mode, all incoming faxes go into memory.

58 | Maintena nce Cleaning the scan unit Keeping the scan unit clean helps en sure the best possible copies. We suggest that you clean the scan unit at the start o f each day a nd during the day, as needed. 1. Slightly dampen a soft lint-free cloth or pap er towel with water.
Maintenance | 59 2. Grasp the handles on the toner cartridge and pull to re move the cartridge from the printer. 3. Holding both handles on th e toner cartridge, thoroughly rock it from sid e to side to evenly distribute the toner. 4. Slide the toner cartridge back into the printer.

After the life span of the pap er transfer belt is complete, you have to replace it. • The transfer belt-related message appea rs on the display, telling it is time for a replacement.

Open the inner cover using th e handle. 3. Open the inner cover using th e handle on it and carefully take the jammed paper out of the printer.
68 | Troublesho oting In the paper exit area If paper is jammed in the paper exit ar ea, follow the next steps to release the jammed paper. 1. If a long portion of the paper is visible, p ull it straight out. Open and cl ose the front cover firmly . The printer will resume printing.
Troubleshooting | 69 In the optional tray If paper is jammed in the optional T ray, follow the next step s to release the jammed paper. 1. Pull the optional Tray open. After you pull it all the way out, lift up the front part of the tray slightly to release the tray from the printer.
70 | Troublesho oting UNDERSTANDING DI SPLAY MESSAGES Messages appear o n the control panel displa y to indicate the pri nter’s status or errors. Refer to the tables below to understand th e messages’ meaning and correct the prob lem if necessary.
Troubleshooting | 71 File Name Exist The file name yo u have entered already exists. Enter a different file name. File Name Over Limit The file names you can use are from doc001 to doc999. However, all file names are used already. Delete unnecessary files.

Enter the number manually using the number keypad or stor e the number or a ddress. Not Available Try Again Later Can not perform the task immediately because too many tasks are running at once.
