Severe engine damage will occur if contaminant s are allow ed to enter the engine. Install new o-ring, fuel injection pump, and two mounting nuts on the adapter plate.

Diesel Engine Complete En gine 75 Remove all carbon and dirt from the cont act surfaces of the cylinder block and the cylinder head. Remove all burrs and damage, and clean out all the dirt from inside the cy linder block. Failure to follow these steps will result in severe engine damage.

Diesel Engine Complete En gine 81 Hook the element and one leg of the channel (T -Bar) into the hole as illustrated. Hook the other leg of the channel in the hole and push the heater into the hole as far as possible by hand.

Do not apply power until th e cooling system is filled, and run the engine long enough for the thermostat s to open and ensure all the air has escaped.

Diesel Engine Engine T esting 92 Fuel System Checking and Adjusting Fuel Injection Timing There are two methods for checking and adjusting the fuel injection timing of an injection pump. • The “MA TCH MARK ALIGNMENT” method, which is used when the injection pump is installed on the original engine and the pump is not being repaired.
