About the IP Phone 1140 The IP Phone 1140 b rings voice and data t o t he d esktop b y c onnecting directly to a Local Area Network (LAN) through an Ether net connection. When y ou are logged on to the network, the handset and k e ypad of the IP Phone operate in the same wa y as a standard b usiness telephone.

12 About the IP Phone 114 0 IP Phone 1140 display T erminal indicators The IP Phone ter minal uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) of diff erent colors to indicate the current state of the terminal. This tab le describes each color and its associated state.
T erminal indicators 13 Indicator LED color Meaning Mute Red (located on the front, on the mute key) Lit when the mute feature is active. The system administrator can configure the mute lamp to be steady on or blinking.
User Use the User menu to: • view your user name • view y our login type • enable or disab le auto login f eature • change your pass word See "Using the User M enu" . History Use Histor y menu to: • reset the Inbox • reset the Outbox See "Resetting the Inbo x" an d "R esetting t he O utbo x" .

20 Connecting the IP Phone to the LAN IP P hone 1140 c onnectors Logging O n Step Action 1 Enter your user name. Press OK . Note: If your user name i s too lon g f or t he d ispla y ( longer t han 1 5 characters), the digits scroll to the left and an ellipsis appears to the left of the user name.
Logging O ff Step Action 1 F rom the main menu, select Logoff . 2 Press Ok . A confirmation screen appears. 3 Confirm the action. Y ou are logged off from the network. —End— Making C alls F ollow one of these procedures to make a call. Making a call using off-hook dialing Step Action 1 Lift the handset from the cradle.

While on an Active Call 35 Using the mute feature Muting pre vents the transmission of sounds through the microphone. Step Action 1 During a call, press the m ute k ey .
Using the F eatu res M enu When you access the F eatures menu, a numbered list of the features provisioned on each ke y is display ed. The number displa yed indicates the ke y to which the feature is assigned to your line.
Using the Features Menu Enabling or disabling autoscr oll If autoscroll is enab led, the IP Phone automatically directs you to the screen f or the active f eature. For e xample, if y our secondar y Director y Number (DN) is configured on screen two , and y ou receive a call to that number , the f eature screens scroll to page two .
Enabling or disabling auto hide . When you enab le the auto hide f eature, only those f eatures that are av ailable appear in the displa y . F eature av ailability depends on the state of the terminal and administrato r s ettings. Step Action 1 F rom the main menu, open the F eature menu.
Selecting the L anguag e Step Action 1 F rom the main menu, select and open Language . A list of av ailab le languages appears. 2 Scroll through the list and select y our pref erred language. 3 Press Ok . —End— Using the Time M enu Setting the time zone F ollow this procedure to select the time zone.
60 Using the Time menu Disabling Da ylight Sa ving Time Step Action 1 F rom the main men u, open the Time menu. 2 F rom the Time menu, select and open Daylight Saving . 3 Select Off . Da ylight Saving Time is disabled. The word Off appears in the displa y , with a check mar k beside it.
Step Action 1 F rom the main men u, open the Time menu. 2 F rom the Time menu, select and open Date Format . 3 Scroll through the Date Format options to select the format you want. 4 T o enab le a f ormat, select it, and press Ok . A check mark appears beside the option to indicate that it is enabled.
Viewing y our login type The ter minal can operate in one of two login types: • Unique—the ability to join a session with an m6350 Softclient is not enabled. • Joint—the ability to operate in a joint session with an m6350 Softclient is enabled.

P erf orming a Fi rmware U pgrade If a firmware upgrade f or the IP Phone is a vailab le, the system prompts y ou to upgrade when y ou log on. If the fir mware le vel is between the minim um and maximum le vel set b y the administrator , Y es and No options appear on the soft ke ys.

Resetting the o utbo x Step Action 1 F rom the main menu, select and open Histor y . 2 F rom the Histor y menu, select Reset Outbo x . A confirmation screen appears. 3 Press Ye s . The calls in the Outbo x are deleted. Y ou retur n to the pre vious menu.
