5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER Unpacking • Remove s taples from the top, sides, and end s of the shi pping cra te. • Set panel s aside to avoid tire pu nctures or personal injury . • Remove an d discard pl astic bag th at covers uni t.
6 • Tigh ten the tw o win g nuts alre ady in plac e on th e upper hol es and secu re the han dles firml y. Refer to Figure 2. • Slide th e shift rod conn ector down over the end of the lower shi ft rod as sh own in Figure 2. Tap t he conne ctor un til it locks on the lower shif t rod.
7 If adjustme nt is necessa ry, procee d as follows: • Loosen th e jam nut and thread the cable in (for less slack ) or out (for more s lack) a s necess ary. See Figure 7. Figure 7 • Rech eck adjustme nt; readju st as necess ary and tighte n the jam nut.

9 Wheel Steering Controls The left a nd right wheel steering co ntrols are located on the unders ide of the handl es and are use d to assist in steerin g the snow thro wer. • Squeez e the right wheel s teering control when turning rig ht; squeeze the left contr ol when turning left.
10 • If your house wir ing system is not a three-wire grounded system, do not use th is electric starter unde r any co ndi tio ns. • If your home electr ical system is grounded, bu t a three-h ole receptac le is not av ailable, one sh ould be install ed by a licens ed electric ian before using the el ectri c star te r.
11 WARNING: The temperatu re of the muffler and the s urroundin g areas may exc eed 150 ° F. Av oid thes e areas. • For the mos t effici ent snow removal, remo ve sn ow immed iately afte r it falls. • Discha rge snow dow nwind whenever possible. • Slight ly overlap ea ch pre vious clea ning path.
12 • Rotate th e ferrule up or down o n the s hift rod a s necessar y until the ferr ule lines up wit h the upper hole in the sh ift lever . Refer to Figur e 12. • Insert ferrule from the lef t side of the sno w thrower into the upper hole. • Reinsta ll the hairpin clip and the washe r.
13 Fig ure 1 4 Discharge Chute The base of the discha rge chute an d the spira ls on the chute cr ank shoul d be lubricate d at least eve ry 25 hours of use. W hen applyi ng the lubric ation, apply the lubric ant as shown in Figure 14 to the point under the base of the ch ute and where th e spirals c ontact the dischar ge chute.
14 SECTION 7: SERVICING YOUR SNOW THROWER WARN ING: Before servicing , repairi ng, or insp ecting, d isengage all clu tch l evers and stop e ngine. Wa it until all moving parts ha ve come to a compl ete stop. Disc onnect spark plug wir e and groun d it agai nst the en gine to prevent unintend ed starti ng.

17 • Reasse mble the new fr iction wheel r ubber to the frictio n wheel assem bly, tighte ning the si x screws in rotation and with equal for ce. It is impor tant to assembl e the rubber on the friction wheel symmetr ically for proper funct ioning.
