Corel VideoStudio Pro Editor 25 Library The Library is a storage de pot for everything you need to create a movie: video clips, photo s, transitions, titles , filters, color clips, and audio files. Right-click a clip in the Library to view the clip's properties as well as copy, delete, or Split by Scene.

Corel VideoStudio Pro Editor 27 Back up your Library to avoid lo sing important lib rary in formation and media clips. This action will create a backup of the virtual media files information of your current library in the directory you will specify.

Y ou can also use the Instant Project templat es to cr eate your video project or crea te your own custom te mplates.
Starting a new movie project 31 T o import project templates 1 Click Import a project te mplate and browse for the template file that you have crea ted. 2 Click OK . Y our template will be imported into the Custom category . Setting your preferences Customize the program's working environment through th e Preferences dialog box.

Edit 53 Color Color clips are us ually added a s backgrounds and are usefu l for titles. Adding of color clips on the Video T r ack follows the same proc edure as that of video and image clips. F or more information about adding c olor clips, see “ A dding Co lor Clips” on page 79.
54 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide 3 In Fr am e Fr eq u en c y , specify th e number of fr ames to be remo ved at regular intervals duri ng video p layback. Note: A higher value entered in Fr a me Frequency will produce a more noticeable time-lapse effe ct on yo ur video.
Edit 55 Note: F or example, you enter a value of 1 in K eep and 3 in Drop. This means that it will follow the interval to reta in one frame and remove three frames for the entire video clip. 4 In Fr am e d ur a ti o n , specify th e exposure ti me for each fram e.

Edit 59 4 T o preview the trimme d clip only , press [Shift + Space] or hold [Shift] and click the Play button. Note: Y ou can also use zoom contr ols to display each frame o f your video on the Timeline and trim one frame a t a time. The Scroll Bar makes navigating through your project quicker an d easier .
60 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide T o trim a clip using the Duration box 1 Click a clip on the Timeline to select it. 2 Click the timecode in the Duration box in the Options P a nel and enter the desired clip le ngth. Note: Changes made in the v ideo Duration box only affect the Mark-out point.
Edit 61 T o use Split by Scene on a DV A VI or MPEG file 1 Go to the Edit Step and select a captured DV A VI file or an MPEG file on the Timeline. 2 Click Split by Scene button in the Option s Panel. This will open the Scenes dialog box. 3 Choose your preferred scan method ( DV Recording Tim e Scan or Fra m e C o nt e n t ).

Edit 63 T o trim a video file into multiple clips 1 Go to the Edit Step and select the clip that you want to trim. 2 Double click the clip to open the O ptions P anel. 3 Click Multi-trim Video in the Options P anel . 4 View the whol e clip first by clicking Play to determine how you want to mark segments in the Multi-trim Video dialog box.
64 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide Saving trimmed clips Fre quently , when you make changes (i .e., after auto-spli tting clips using Split by Scene, e xtracti ng clips using Multi-trim Video, or manually trimming clips), you may wish to ma ke a perma nent change to the clip and save the edited file.
Edit 65 The Edit Step Opti ons Panel The Options Pa nel in the Edit Step allows you to modify the media, transitions, titles, graphics, animatio n, and filters that you add to th e Timeline. The elements that you use in your pro ject or effec ts that yo u apply to you r clips can be modif ied or fine tuned in the Attribute tab.
66 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide • Rotate — Rotates th e video clip. • Color Correction — Allows you to adjust the hue , saturation , brightness, co ntrast, and gamma of the video clip. Y ou can also adjust the White balance of the vi deo or photo clip o r make auto tone adjustments.
Edit 67 • Presets — Provides var ious P an & Zoom presets. Choo se a preset from the drop-d own list. • Customize — Allows you t o define how to pan and zoom the current image. Color: Color tab • Duration — Sets the duration of the selected color clip.

Edit 75 The Title Safe Area It is recommende d to keep your text within the title safe area. The title safe area is th e rectangular wh ite outlin e on the Preview Window . Keeping the text within the bounds of the title safe area will make sure the title does not get c ut off at the edges.
76 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide Modifying text attributes Modify the attributes of yo u r t e x t , s u c h a s f o n t f a ce, style, size, and more, by using the available sett ings in the Edit tab of the Title Library . Click Title in the Library then go to the Edit tab to apply options available for modifying text attributes.

Edit 83 Key frame settings Corel VideoStudio Pro allows you to cu stomize video filters in a variety of ways, such as by adding key frames to your clips.

86 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide Ripple Editing Ripple Editing allows you to insert or re move clips while automatically moving other c lips (includ ing empty spaces ) accordingly , to make room for it on the Timeline. Ripple editing begins after the in sertion point.
Edit 87 Timeline after a clip is i nserted in the Video T rack with Ripple Editin g enabled on some tracks. Clips on the tracks with Ripple Editing enabl ed move when a new clip is inser ted to maintain o riginal synchr onization.
88 Corel VideoStudio Pro User Guide Proxy files are lower reso lution working copies of video files. They are reduced in resolution or co mpression bit rate -- to speed up editing of high definition files such as HDV an d A VCHD. Proxy files are s ource- dependent rather than pro ject-depe ndent.
Edit 89 T o view the list of video files to be generated as proxy files 1 Go to Settings > Smart P roxy Mana ger > Smart Proxy Queue Manager . 2 Select the files you want to include in your queue. 3 Click OK . Converting multiple files Batch Convert allows you to convert a la rge number of files to ano ther format in seq uence.
