T o a v oid pap er misfeeds , slide the paper guide to the left side of the paper . Y o u can use many diff e rent types and sizes of paper .

Getting Started Guide 6 Step 7: C onnec t the USB cable The Compaq 1400P can print photos di rectly from your digital cam era memory card without the use of a PC (see “Printing d irectly from a mem ory card” on page 9). H owever , you can maxim ize the value of your pr inter by attac hing it to your PC and instal ling t he printer software.

Getting Started Guide 10 WA R N I N G : Never remov e the memo ry card when the CompactFlas h light is flashing , or you could dam age the card. Once the card has been properly inser ted, the LCD will d isplay the number of photos found on the card.

Getting Started Guide 12 About Pho to Cr opping When the printer scal es a photo to your selec ted photo si ze, it attempts to find the best fit possi ble without omittin g any part of the original pho to . Depending on the photo , this means it might not fill up the entire sel ected size in both directi ons.

Step 1 : Print an in dex The first thi ng y ou will want to do is prin t an i ndex (unless y ou are using DPOF , in which case you can proceed to Step 3).

Us e the Up and Dow n arrow buttons to fi nd a photo size, and the Enter button to select it. The Compaq 1400P sav es paper by fitting as many photos on a page as poss ible.
