4 system maintenance The system r equires no specific maintenance. Y our transmitter is pow- er ed by two miniature 3V lithium batteries that will last appr oximately one year under normal use. When the batteries weaken, operating range will be r educed and the system will provide a low battery warn- ing chirp indication when disarming.

If your transmitter has been custom configur ed, the icons on your transmitter buttons may not correspond to the indicated functions.

13 © 2006 directed electr onics—all rights reserved intellistart and smartwindows sensor bypass When the system sees a command to start the vehicle via the Intellistart, it bypasses all sensors and will continue to bypass these sen- sors until the r emote start shuts down.
14 disarm/valet mode Entering your pin code using the PlainView 2 V alet switch allows you to disarm the system or enter valet mode without using the transmit- ter . In valet mode, the security system will not arm, even with the trans- mitter , but all convenience functions (door locks, trunk release, etc.

18 diagnostics The micr oprocessor at the heart of your security system is constantly monitoring all of the switches and sensors that ar e connected to it. It detects any faulty switches and sensors and pr events them from dis- abling the entir e system.

20 table of zones The zone number is the number of LED flashes used by the system to identify a specific input. The standar d input assignments are listed below , along with spaces to write in any optional sensors or switches you have had installed. If the W ar ning Zone response is trigger ed, the LED will not r eport it.

32 PIN Code Confirmation Pr ocedure Begin this pr ocedure within 15 seconds of finishing the pr ogramming sequence or the new code will not be set. 1. T ur n on the ignition. 2. Enter the new PIN code. 3. Pr ess and hold for three seconds. z LED tur ns on: New PIN code is lear ned and pr ogram- ming is complete.

34 Don'ts z DON'T r emote start your vehicle or engage Shortstop or Autostart modes in an enclosed ar ea such as a garage or car port. z DON'T allow childr en access to your remote contr ol. z DON'T engage r emote start or Shortstop or Autostart modes when childr en or pets are pr esent in the vehicle.

36 low temperatur e/battery start Y our remote start system can automatically start your vehicle if the inte- rior r eaches a pre-pr ogrammed low temperature setting or if the bat- tery charge level dr ops too low . Both these settings can be calibrated and set using the Clif fnet W izard.
37 © 2006 directed electr onics—all rights reserved diesel compatibility The system will activate the engine’ s glow plugs for the necessary dura- tion befor e starting via either a timer delay or through a dir ect connection to your vehicle’ s glow plug indicator (may r equire optional parts or wiring).
38 one-time valet featur e This featur e allows the system to be put in valet mode only until the next time the ignition is tur ned on. ON: V alet mode will be exited every time the ignition is tur ned on. OFF: V alet mode will only be exited by using the valet switch or the r emote control.
39 © 2006 directed electr onics—all rights reserved When BlackJax is pr ogrammed ON, BlackJax sequence will begin every time the ignition is tur ned on and must be tur ned of f by entering your PIN code. It will then activate again while driving when trigger ed.
