The buttons on the remote control function the same way their equivalents do on the N.I.C .E. P200. For optima l operation, always aim the remote control toward the infrared sensor on the N.

N.I.C.E. P200 41 • By P ostal Code and Phone go directly to the touch-screen ke yboard. • By Name is especially useful if you kno w only the state or province in w hich a famous place is located, but y ou don’t know how it might be categorized nor do you know its postal code or phone number .
Chapter 3: Navigation 42 The N.I.C .E. P200 prompts you to choose ho w to displa y the locations. Sort point of interest locations options 4. If you kno w the name you’ re looking for , choose Sor t By Name. If you’ re in an unfamiliar city tap Sort By Distance f or the closes t point of interest.

If are entering a postal code, the N.I.C .E. P200 fills in the beginning digit based on the valid codes for y our state or pro vince.

N.I.C.E. P200 51 Detouring Once the N.I.C.E. P200 has calculated the route it assumes all is clear ahead. To deliberately detour around an accident, or for any other reason, follow these steps. 1. T ap the navigation options button (F3). 2. T ap Detour.

N.I.C.E. P200 53 Zooming in and out Taping the zoom bu ttons (F1 and F2) changes the scale of the map. Map during navi gation The closest you can zoom in is 1/16th of a mile. N.I.C.E. P200 55 Previe wing your journe y This feature lets you preview (simulate) a route without actually going anywhere. If you have th e time, it’s a good idea to preview any trip . Scouting out restaurants, gas statio ns and other destinations in advance wil l help you naviga te with ease.

N.I.C.E. P200 61 Recor ding y our route Rather than use the N.I.C.E. P200 as a guide, you can use it to record where you’ve been. The N.I.C.E. P200 can drop virtu al bread crumbs along your route. Later you can simulate your journey. Recording your route involves sta rting and stopping a named trail.

N.I.C.E. P200 63 This chapter provides g uidelines for using the N.I.C.E. P200 for entertainment. For navigation, t he N.I.C.E. P200 mu st be mounted in the GPS cradle. For entertainment, or to use the utilities, you can remove t he N.I.C.E. P200 from the cradle and take it with you.
Chapter 4: Ente rtainment modes 64 Saving battery char ge Although the battery can power th e N.I.C.E. P200 for approximately th ree hours, the actual dura tion of the charge de pends on how you use the N.I.C.E. P200. The LCD requires the most power. Turning the LCD off when you’re no t using it extends the life of the battery charge.
N.I.C.E. P200 65 When A UTO LCD OFF is ON and the N.I.C .E. P200 is using batter y power , the LCD tur ns off automatically if you don’t tap the tou ch screen f or the number of seconds specified in the LCD OFF TIME option. 4. T ap the LCD OFF TIME option to alternate among four times in seconds.
Chapter 4: Ente rtainment modes 66 The audio and video codecs can be used in any combination, but only with this list of codecs. If a file you transfer to the N.I.C. E. P200 uses a diff erent codec, the file will not wo rk. For example, a music video with an .

P200’s built-in equalizer can be configured to produce smooth sou nd based on the style of music you listen to most.

Chapter 6: Customizing 92 The N.I.C.E. P200 combines separate applicati ons or programs. You can c onfigure each application. The SETUP icon on the main menu accesses hardware configuration. The options for customizing how the hardware works are o rganized under three headings: •P O W E R • A/V (audio/video) • ETC .

Chapter 6: Customizing 94 Once you display the other configuration option s, the N.I.C.E. P200 always displays the last option you selected when you tap the SETUP icon on the main menu. To display system informatio n again: 1. T ap the Etc. button. 2.

Chapter 6: Customizing 98 A voiding inter states and toll roads If you don’t like to dri ve on freeways or wish to avoid toll roads, the N.I.C.E. P200 will calcul ate a route that avoids these roads. 1. On the Setup menu, tap N avigation Pref erences.
