Operating Instructions 5 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Safety Instructions The safety aspects of AEG electrical appliances comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Sa fety Law.
Operating Instructions 6 • Never place the dishwasher in ope ration if the mains cable, water inlet or drain hose is damaged; or the control panel, work top or plinth area is damaged such that the inside of the appliance is freely accessible.
Operating Instructions 7 • In the event of a fault, first close the tap, then switch off the appli- ance and unplug it from the mains. If the appliance is permanently wired to the mains: remove the fuse. 2 Disposal Disposing of the Pa ckaging Material Dispose of the dishwasher packaging material correctly.

Operating Instructions 10 Prior to using for the first time Prior to using for the first time, remo ve all the clips with wh ich the dish racks are secured for transport. Then perform the following steps: 0 1. Adjust the water softener 2. Fill with Salt for the Water Softener 3.
Operating Instructions 11 Adjust the water softener to the ha r dn e s s o f th e wa t er i n yo u r a r ea a s stated in the table: 0 1. The dishwasher must be switched off. 2. Manual adjustment: Open the dishwasher door. 3. Remove the lower rack from the dishwasher.
Operating Instructions 12 Filling with Salt fo r the Water Softener 1 Use only salt designed for dishwash ers. Never fill the salt container with any another type of salt (e.g . culinary salt) or dishwasher deter- gent as this would irreparably damage the water softener.
Operating Instructions 13 Rinse Aid Rinse aid ensures that dishes emerge thoroughly rinsed and spot free while glasses are clear and shining. There are two ways to add rinse aid: • If you use detergent that already contains rinse aid, the deter gent and rinse aid are placed in the detergent container.
Operating Instructions 14 Filling with Rinse Aid If you use separate detergent and rinse aid, fill up with rinse aid: – prior to using the dishwasher for the first time – w hen the indicator H is illuminated on the control panel . The rinse aid compartment is on th e inside of the dishwasher door.
Operating Instructions 15 Adjusting Rinse Aid Dosing 3 As the dishes are washed rinse aid is released from the dispenser into the wash water. The dose is factory set at 4, and can be adjusted fro m 1 to 6. Only change the setting if streaks, milky spots or dried on water marks are visible on glasse s or crockery.
Operating Instructions 16 Loading Cutlery and Dishes 1 Sponges, household cloths and any obj ect that can absorb water should not be washed in the dishwasher . • Be fore loading the dishes, you should: – Remove all scraps of food. – Soften remnants of burnt food in pans.
Operating Instructions 17 Loading Cutlery 1 Long bladed knives stored in an upright position are a potential hazard. 1 Long and/or sharp items of cutlery such as carving knives must be positioned hor izontally in th e upper basket. 1 Take care when loading or unload- ing sharp items such as knives.
Operating Instructions 18 Loading Pans, Frying Pans and Large Plates Load large and heavily soiled dishes in the lower rack. 3 To ease the loading of large items at some dish washer-m odels the two rows of prongs for the right-hand plate insert can be folded down: 0 1.
Operating Instructions 19 Loading Cups, Glasses and Coffee Services Load small, delicate items and long pointed cutlery in the upper rack. • A rrange items of crockery on the folding cups racks so that they are offset from each other and water can reach all items.
Operating Instructions 20 Adjusting the Height of the Upper Basket 3 The height of the basket can also be adjusted when it is loaded. Depending on the model, your applia nce is provided with one of the following types of upper basket: Lowering the Upper Basket: Type 1 0 1.
Operating Instructions 21 Filling with Detergent 1 Only use dishwasher detergent. Fill with detergent: – Prior to the start of a wash programme (not for the pre wash pro- gramme).
Operating Instructions 22 Concentrated Detergent Based on their chemical compositio n, dishwasher detergents can be split into two basic types: – conventi onal , alkaline detergents wit h caustic components –l o w a l k a l i n e concentrated detergents with natural enzymes.
Operating Instructions 23 Selecting the Wash Progr amme (Programme Table) Choose the most suitable wash program me with the aid of this table: 1) Noise levels vary at different stages of the wash programme as at some programme stages the dishes are washed more energet ically so th at they will be cleaned more thor oughly.
Operating Instructions 24 Start the Wash Programme 0 1. Check that when the dishes and cutl ery are loaded into the dishwasher the spray arms are free to rotate. 2. Open the tap fully. 3. Shut the door. 4. Press the ON/OFF button. The ON/OFF button indicator illuminates.
Operating Instructions 25 0 1. Open the door of the dishwasher. The wash programme stops. 2. The indicator for the programme that is currently running extinguishes. 3. Close the door. The wash programme continues. Cancelling the wash programme 0 1. Press the button for the current wash programme and hold it pressed.
Operating Instructions 26 Switching Off the Dishwasher Switch the dishw asher of f when the mult i-displa y indicates "0" for the remaining programme time. 0 1. Press the ON/OFF button. The ON/OFF button indicator extinguishes. 1 Hot steam may escape from the appliance when opening the door immediately after the end of the programme.
Operating Instructions 27 Cleaning the Filter 3 The filters should be checked and cleaned regularly. Dirty filters wi ll give poor wash results. 0 1. Open the door, remove the lower rack. 2. The dishwasher fi lter system co m- prises a coarse/fine filter, microfilter and a flat filter.
Operating Instructions 28 What to do, if ... Try to rectify minor faults on the dishwasher with the aid of the instructions given here. If you call an engineer to resolve a of fault listed here, or to repair a fault caused by incorrect use or installation, a charge will be made even if the appliance is in guarantee.

Operating Instructions 30 The dishes are wet and dull. – Rinse aid was not used. – T he rinse aid container is empty. There are streaks, milky spots or a bluish coating on glasses and dishes. – L ower rinse aid dosing. There are dried water drops on the glasses and dishes.
Operating Instructions 31 Notes for Test Institutes Testing in accordance with EN 60704 must be carried out with the appliance fully loaded and using the test programme (see Programme Table).

Installation and Connectio n Instructions 33 • If the dishwasher is installed under- neath a kitchen work surface, the original work surf ace of the dish- washer is to be removed as follows: – Unscrew the screws (1) from the elbows on the back side.
Installation and Conn ection Instructio ns 34 Connecting the Dishwasher Water Connection The dishwasher is fitted with safety devices that prevent the wash water returning into the drinking water system and comply with the applicable plumbing regulations.
Installation and Connectio n Instructions 35 Water drain Drain hose 1 The drain hose must not be kinked, crushed or ent angled. • Co nnecting the drain hose: – Maximum permitted height: 1 me tre. – Minimum require d height 30 cm above the lower edge of the machine.
Installation and Conn ection Instructio ns 36 Leak Prevention System For protection from damage due to water leaks, the dishwasher is equipped with a leak prevention system, the AQUA CONTROL SYSTEM. In the event of a fault, the safety valve immediately interrupts the sup- ply of water to the appliance and th e drain pump switches on.
Installation and Connectio n Instructions 37 • T he wire coloured green and yello w must be connec ted to the termi- nal marked with the letter “E“ or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow. • The wire coloured blue must be co nnected to the terminal “N“ or col- oured black.
Guarantee Conditions 38 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS Guarantee Conditions AEG offer the follow ing guarantee to the first purcha ser of this appliance. 1. The guara ntee is valid fo r 12 months comme ncing when the applian ce is ha nded over to the first retail purchaser, w hich must be verified by purchase i nvoice or similar doc- umentation.
