10 Broadband Link Tab This chapter describes the 2Wire gate way Broadband Link features, and provides detailed instructions on how to customize your broadband settings.
Broadband Link T ab 11 Connection Speed Connection Speed shows the incoming and outgoing data rates of your DSL connection, measured in kilobits per second (Kbps). Incoming is the speed of data flowing from the Internet to your networ k; Outgoing is the speed of data flowing from your network to the Internet.
Broadband Link T ab 12 Connection Details The View connection details link accesses the Broadband Link Details page, which displa ys technical information about your broadband connection. T echnical suppor t representatives use this infor mation to help troubleshoot problems with your broadband connection.
Broadband Link T ab 13 Item Description DSL Connection DSL Line (Wire P air) The DSL signal can be transmitted on Line 1 (inner pair) or Line 2 (outer pair). During installation, the gatew ay automatically detects on which line the DSL signal is being transmitted.
Broadband Link T ab 14 Username The name used to connect with your Internet Ser vice Prov ider (ISP). Y our user name was either assigned to you or configured by you durin g the install process. The correct user name is required to successfully connect to the Internet.
Broadband Link T ab 15 Primar y Domain Name Ser ver P ar t of the In ternet address settings. A domain name is a meaningful, easy-to-remember “handle” for an Internet address. The DNS allows Internet users to specify a name (domain name) to reach a W eb page (for example, www .
Broadband Link T ab 16 Monitor Internet Connection The Monitor Internet connection link launches the Speed Meter . The S peed Meter measures the actual rate at which data is coming into (Incoming Kbps) and goin g out of (Outgoing Kbps) your system. It measures real-time data throughput in Kilobits per second and displa ys in one-second inter vals.

Broadband Link T ab 20 Using Advanced Settings The Advanced Settings page allows you to manually configure your DSL and Internet connection settings. T ypically , these settings are automatically provided b y your ser vice provider . Y ou should adjust these settings ONL Y if you are ver y familiar with DSL and networking technolog y .

Broadband Link T ab 23 Modifying the Broadband IP By default, the gatew ay automatically obtains its Internet address. The Broadband IP panel allows you to manually configure your Internet address settings. 1. Click the Manually configure IP address settings radio button.
24 Home Network Tab This chapter describes the 2Wire gate way Home Netw ork features, and provides detailed instructions on how to customize your network settings. V iewing Y our Home Network Summar y The Home Network Summar y page displa ys infor mation about the devices installed on your network.
Home Network T ab 25 Each device on your home network is represented with a computer icon. If the “show inactive devices” option is enabled, and the de vice becomes inactive because it is powered off or remo ved from your networ k, this icon will display as Inactive.
Home Network T ab 26 Depending on the permissions you ha ve set for devices on your network, the following links may displa y next to the device: • Access shared files. Accesses the shared files av a ilable from this computer . This feature only works with Microsoft Windows computers that have shared files and file sharing installed.

34 VoIP Network Tab This chapter describes the 2Wire gate wa y V oIP Netw or k features, and provides detailed instructions on setting up a V oIP network. Configuring the V oIP Phones T o configure V oIP via the gatewa y user interface, follow these steps.
