2 ENGLISH How to reset your unit Press and hold both the SEL (select) and (standby/on/atten uator) buttons at the same time for se veral seconds . This will reset the built-in microcomputer . Note: Y our pr eset adjustments – such as pr eset channels or sound adjustments – will also be erased.

5 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in ste p 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to press this b utton to turn on the power . 2 Select the source.
6 ENGLISH RADIO BASIC OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
7 ENGLISH Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This receiver has thr ee FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast. 2 Press and hold ¢ or 4 until “M (manual)” starts flashing on the display .
8 ENGLISH Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the follo wing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory . • Automatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
9 ENGLISH 3 Press and hold the number button (in this example, 1) for more than 2 seconds. 4 Repeat the above procedure to store other stations into other preset numbers. Notes: • A pre viously preset sta tion is erased when a new station is stor ed in the same preset number .
10 ENGLISH RDS OPERA TIONS What you can do with RDS RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send an additional signal along with their regular programme signals . F or e xample, the stations send their station names, as well as inf ormation about what type of programme the y broadcast, such as sports or music, etc.
11 ENGLISH Using T A Standby Reception T A Standby Reception allows the unit to s witch temporarily to T raffic Announcement (T A) from the current source (another FM station, tape or other connected components). • T A Standby Reception will not work if you are listening to an AM station.
12 ENGLISH Using PTY Standby Reception PTY Standby Reception allo ws the unit to switch temporarily to your f avourite programme (PTY : Programme T ype) from the current source (another FM station, tape or other connected components). • PTY Standby Reception will not work if you ar e listening to an AM station.
13 ENGLISH Searching your favorite programme Y ou can search any one of the PTY codes. In addition, you can store y our 6 fav orite programme types in the number buttons . When shipped from the factory , the follo wing 6 programme types ha v e been stored in the number buttons (1 to 6).
14 ENGLISH Other convenient RDS functions and adjustments Automatic selection of the station when using the number buttons Usually when you press the number b utton, the preset station is tuned in. Howe ver , when the preset station is an RDS station, something different will happen.
15 ENGLISH Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the initial indication on the display to station name (PS NAME), station frequency (FREQ) or clock time (CLOCK) while listening to an FM RDS station. • See also “Changing the general settings (PSM)” on page 24.

17 ENGLISH T APE OPERA TIONS Listening to a cassette Y ou can play bac k type 1 (nor mal) tapes. 1 Insert a cassette into the cassette compartment. The unit turns on and tape pla y starts automatically . When one side of the tape reaches its end during play , the other side of the tape automatically star ts playing.
18 ENGLISH SEL Finding the beginning of a tune Multi Music Scan allows you to automatically start playbac k from the beginning of a specified tune. Y ou can specify up to 9 tunes ahead of or before the current tune. During playback Specify how many tunes ahead of or before the current tune the one you want is located.
19 ENGLISH Playing the current tune repeatedly Y ou can play the current tune repeatedly (Repeat Pla y). 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while playing a tune y ou want to hear ov er again on a cassette.
20 ENGLISH 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as follo ws: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass. –06 (min.) | +06 (max.) 21 ENGLISH Using the sound control memor y (SCM) Y ou can select and store a preset sound adjustment suitable f or each playbac k source (Advanced SCM). Selecting and storing the sound modes Once you select a sound mode , it is stored in memor y . It will be recalled every time you select the same source and will be shown on the displa y .
22 ENGLISH Storing your own sound adjustments Y ou can adjust the sound modes (BEA T , SOFT , POP) to your pref erence and store your own adjustments in memor y . • There is a time limit in doing the following procedure. If the setting is canceled bef ore you finish, star t from step 1 again.

26 ENGLISH T o select the telephone muting – TEL This mode is used when a cellular phone system is connected. Depending on the phone system used, select either “MUTING 1” or “MUTING 2, ” whichev er mutes the sounds from this unit. When shipped from the factory , this mode is deactivated.
27 ENGLISH Attaching the control panel 1 Insert the left side of the control panel into the groove on the panel holder . 2 Press the right side of the control panel to fix it to the panel holder . Note on cleaning the connectors: If you frequently detac h the contr ol panel, the connectors will deteriorate .
28 ENGLISH Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you press CD-CH, the power automatically tur ns on. Y ou do not have to press to turn on the power . T o fast-for ward or reverse the track . CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS W e recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your unit.
29 ENGLISH T o go to the next track or the previous tracks T o go to a particular disc directly Press the number b utton corresponding to the disc number to start its playback (while the CD changer is playing). • T o select a disc number from 1 – 6: Press 1 (7) – 6 (12) briefly .
ENGLISH 30 EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Playing an external component Y ou can connect the external component to the CD changer jack on the rear using the Line Input Adaptor KS-U57 (not supplied).
ENGLISH 31 DAB TUNER OPERA TIONS We recommend that y ou use DAB (Digital A udio Broadcasting) tuner KT -DB1500 with your unit. If you ha ve another D AB tuner , consult your JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer. • Refer also to the Instructions supplied with your D AB tuner.
ENGLISH 32 T o change the display information while tuning in to an ensemble Normally ser vice name is shown on the display . If you w ant to change the display inf or mation, press DISP (displa y). Each time you press the b utton, the follo wing inf or mation appears on the display f or a while.
ENGLISH 33 T uning in to a preset DAB service Y ou can easily tune in to a preset D AB ser vice. Remember that you m ust store ser vices first. If you ha ve not stored them y et, see pages 32 and 33. 1 Select the DAB tuner . Each time you press and hold the button, the D AB tuner and the FM/AM tuner are alternately selected.
34 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Remedies Insert the cassette with the e xposed tape f acing to the right. Press and hold T APE 23 and 0 f or more than two seconds.
35 ENGLISH Remedies Inser t CDs into the magazine. Inser t them correctly . Inser t the magazine. Connect this unit and the CD changer correctly and press the reset button of the CD changer . Press the reset button of the CD changer . Press and hold both the SEL (select) and buttons at the same time for se ver al seconds.
36 ENGLISH This unit requires v er y little attention, b ut you will be able to e xtend the life of the unit if y ou follo w the instructions below . T o clean the heads • Clean the heads after every 10 hours of use using a wet-type head cleaning tape (av ailable at an audio store).
