GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Stop s witch Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown tow ards the operator .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 Nev er use a machine that has a faulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on your machine is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly .
ASSEMBL Y 10 – English Fitting the loop handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arrows on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. Fit the nut, knob and screw . Do not ov er tighten.
ASSEMBL Y English – 11 Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the trimmer guard and trimmer head • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Hook the tr immer guard/combination guard onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt (L).
FUEL HANDLING 12 – English Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of y our body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING English – 13 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 14 – English Check bef ore star ting • Check that the support flange is not cracked due to fatigue or due to being tightened too m uch. Discard the suppor t flange if it is crack ed. • Ensure the locking nut has not lost its captiv e force.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 15 apply full throttle; the throttle will automatically disengage from the star t setting. CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 16 – English General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 17 Basic working tec hniques Alwa ys slow the engine to idle speed after each working operation. Long periods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle.
MAINTENANCE 18 – English Carburettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 19 Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idle speed by turning the low speed jet L clockwise then anti-cloc kwise. When the highest speed has been found, turn the low speed jet L 1/4 turn anti-clockwise.
MAINTENANCE 20 – English Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter. See chapter on T echnical data to see whether your machine is fitted with a catalytic con ver ter . The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the exhaust gases a way from the oper ator.
MAINTENANCE English – 21 If the machine is low on pow er, difficult to start or runs poorly at idle speed: alw ays check the spark plug first before taking an y fur ther action. If the spark plug is dirty , clean it and check that the electrode gap is 0.
MAINTENANCE 22 – English Bevel gear The bev el gear is filled with the right quantity of grease at the factory . Ho wev er, bef ore using the machine you should check that the be vel gear is filled three-quarters full with grease. Use HUSQV ARNA special grease.
English – 23 MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule The follo wing is a list of the maintenance that must be performed on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this Operator’s Manual.
